Mello the Sage’s newest visuals for ‘Poet’ bring us the most narrative video he’s released with Young Gosling directing. The story centers on a drug deal doomed from the start. As the lyrics put you in that dark mood, the visuals compliment it by building classic textbook suspense taken out of Orson Welles’ ‘Touch of Evil’ with the use of the bomb in the briefcase. Per usual, the two take a new direction halfway through the video and take you into a dark, outer world where Young Gosling can freely experiment without any bounds. The darker tones of ‘Poet’ are reminiscent to some of Mello’s past songs like ‘Damage’ and ‘$oul$ale’ which meld perfectly into Young Gosling’s mostly dark cinematic mood.
